(IFKKA). In 1996 he was awarded Godan (5th Dan) by Hanshi Arneil, and in 2006 Hanshi Arneil promoted him to Rokudan (6th Dan). As AMAC grew in popularity it quickly grew in size to not only cover Australia but also encompassing other countries such as New Zealand (NZMAC), Japan (JMAC) and America (USMAC). This led to the formation of the World Martial Arts Championships (WMAC) and saw Kancho Doug Turnbull take on the position of Vice President of WMAC. He currently holds an "A" class accreditation as International Referee for WMAC.
In 2017 he established the Kyokushin International Karate Organisation (KIKO) focusing on No Politics - Just True Kyokushin, focused on Kyokushin as taught to by the founder of Kyokushin, Sosai Mas Oyama.
Kancho Turnbull's goal is to continue with the Karate Spirit growing KIKO and training Kyokushin Karate to uniting the Spirit of Competition with the Spirit of the Martial Way and demonstrating to the general community the power of positive Martial Art influences in people and society.
